Degree college principal, 6 held for paper leak
The city police on Monday arrested principal of a private degree college and six others in connection with Andhra University BSc final year mathematics examination paper-III leak. The paper was leaked on March 17, and the Andhra University authorities concerned received a WhatsApp message containing the images of the leaked paper about one hour before the examination was scheduled to begin.
Visakhapatnam: The city police on Monday arrested principal of a private degree college and six others in connection with Andhra University BSc final year mathematics examination paper-III leak. The paper was leaked on March 17, and the Andhra University authorities concerned received a WhatsApp message containing the images of the leaked paper about one hour before the examination was scheduled to begin.
Based on the paper leakage on WhatsApp, Registrar of AU, Professor V Umamaheswara Rao has cancelled the BSc-III mathematics examination (Linear Algebra and Vector Calculus), which was already in progress in all the 79 centres of the university.
The arrested have been identified as Kuracha Suresh (43), Principal and Chief Superintendent of Vidyarthi Degree College, Chodavaram, Kuracha Santhosh (27), a relative of the principal and who also works as a computer operator in the college and Pasila Gunaji (20), Bodi Demudu (20), Puthi Thrinadh (21), Vijaya all students and Murali a mathematics lecturer of Vidyarthi Degree College.
DCP (Law and Order) Naveen Gulati said that the BSc final year students of the college had approached the principal and his cousin Santosh a day before the examination and asked them to leak the paper, as the students were not prepared for the examination because the mathematics lecturer of the college had left mid-way during the year.
On the request of the students, Santhosh asked the students to come to the college around 9 am on March 16 as the examination was scheduled to begin at 2 pm.
