​Amaravati: Civil supplies minister Prathipati Pulla Rao announced that the last date for procuring paddy from farmers has been extended for another 15 days till April 24. After assuming charge, at Secretariat here on Monday, he said the money will be directly credited to the bank accounts of the farmers within two days after the purchase of paddy.

“The civil supplies department will distribute commodities to about 1.40 crore card holders,” he informed and asserted that he will not compromise on the quality of the essential commodities. Pulla Rao also clarified that it is not mandatory to purchase the essential commodities through cashless transactions.

He warned the ration dealers of stern action, if any one pressurises the customers for cashless transactions.

The minister stated that the department will distribute gas connections to all the eligible by June end.
Referring to sugar distribution, he said the Centre has removed the subsidy on sugar but the state government keeping in mind the interests of the ration card holders, is bearing the burden of subsidy.

“After discussing with Chief Minister the department will decide about the future course of action on the sugar distribution from ration shops,” Pulla Rao said.

He signed his first file concerning to appointment of retired judge Muthyala Naidu as state consumer redressal commission member.

Ministers Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, Nakka Anand Babu, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy, MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Vinukonda MLA GV Anjaneyulu, Guntur ZP chairperson Jani Mun and others greeted Prathipati Pulla Rao on the occasion.
