Pamur: The students of government high school in Pamur experienced the unexpected on Monday. The excited students spoke to NRIs and interacted with other students from government schools in Kurnool, Krishna, Guntur and Kadapa districts through video conference and learned about a thing or two about setting a goal in life and how to achieve it.

Highlights:

  • Students of govt schools in Kurnool, Prakasam, Guntur and Kadapa are able to interact with NRIs from the state through the platform
  • Jayaram Komati, special representative of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to North America, created a campaign named NRI School Connect
  • As part of the programme, AP NRIs share their experiences with the children and guide them in setting a goal in their lives

This happened thanks to AP Janmabhoomi, a platform where NRIs from Andhra Pradesh are interacting and investing their time and money to make a change in the villages and government schools. Jayaram Komati, special representative of the Government of Andhra Pradesh to North America, launched a campaign, NRI School Connect, and is making several NRIs from the state share their experiences and guide the students from rural government schools in setting goals in life.

On Monday, Jayaram introduced the Government High School, Pamur, in Prakasam district and Zilla Parishad High School, Tadepalli, in Guntur district to the campaign where MC High School, Kadapa, Government Ramji High School, Machilipatnam and Machineni Somappa ZP High School, Yemmiganur, in Kurnool district are already participating.

Speaking from California, Jayaram Komati introduced Emmani Jitendra Chowdary from New York, vice-president of Citi to the students. Jitendra presented a power point presentation to the students about choosing a career and how to pick their passion as a profession. He explained to the students how to make Google as their friend and how to get the answers from it with examples.

A girl from MS ZP High School, Yemmiganur, asked Jitendra whether she can know the rainfall in the district and how can they know which land should be cultivated to get more produce. He explained various tools available on internet to know weather in advance.

The AP JAnmabhoomi started the campaign as a pilot project last week and is conducting the live interactions with students on every Monday. The government schools, which wants to participate, can register themselves at http://www.apjanmabhoomi.org/nrischoolconnect for the next session on April 17.
