Following Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s announcement on introducing a new programme-Ammaku Vandanam-while addressing the National Women’s Parliament, the state government released a GO on Monday for the implementation of the programme from the coming academic year 2017-18.  

Amaravati: Following Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s announcement on introducing a new programme-Ammaku Vandanam-while addressing the National Women’s Parliament, the state government released a GO on Monday for the implementation of the programme from the coming academic year 2017-18.

The programme will be implemented in all the 5,000 government, municipal, ZP and model high schools across the state, for which Rs 5,000 has been earmarked for each school.

The main intention of the programme is to pay tribute to mothers and respect motherhood. Mothers of all students will be invited to the schools on a specified day and the children would seek their blessings by performing Pada Puja.

This will be witnessed by all students and is expected to inculcate in them respect for the traditions and the culture of our country.

According to GO No 22, the celebrations of the Ammaku Vandanam programme can be made voluntary for high schools.

As per the GO, out of the total requirement of Rs 2.50 crore, an amount of Rs 1.25 crore will be sanctioned by the government and remaining amount of Rs 1.25 crore should be pooled by the head masters and teachers from alumni, donors and corporates.

Different activities like singing, dancing and cultural programmes on the theme of mother and also motivational speeches on mother’s significance, contribution to family and children’s responsibility towards their mother can be organised in schools as part of the Ammaku Vandanam programme, it said.
