Pithapuram: As part of Sri Rama Navami celebrations, local legislator SVSN Varma inaugurated state-level bull race at Seetharamaswamy temple premises in Chebrolu village of Gollaprolu mandal on Tuesday.Speaking on the occasion, he said the races are being organised every year to improve live stock and to encourage farmers.

“District and constituency level races will be organised in future. The farmers are happy as they harvested good crops this year. A total of 32 pairs of bulls took part in the competition,” he added.Nalajala Narasimha Rao Memorial bull pair from Jami Gollapalli village in Krishna district won the first prize in seniors’ category. Siddi Vinayaka bull pair from Dhandi Suravaram and bull pair from Chukkalapalli in Visakhapatnam bagged the second and the third prizes respectively.

In the juniors category, Edala Satyaveni bull pair from Mandapeta in East Godavari won the first prize. bull pairs from P Nayakampalli and Samalkot bagged second and third prizes respectively.Temple executive officer Chandaka Dorababu, ZPTC member M Prasadu, mandal TDP president B Rambabu, former sarpanch Devandrudu, market committee director M Veerababu, Dr G Seetharama Swamy were also present.
