Nellore: City Mayor Sk Abdul Aziz made an appeal to the city residents to call toll-free number 9908092220 for water supply related issues. Mayor along with corporation officials inspected summer storage tank at Kothur village here on Monday. He observed working conditions of the pump house, chemical house, flash mixture, filter house, main pump house and other departments at the tank.

The Mayor tasted the water at the pump house and directed the staff to improve maintenance for providing quality water to the city. He also interacted with officials after visiting the premises of storage tank. Speaking to the media, Abdul Aziz said that the government had released Rs 4 crore to the civic body to meet drinking water needs during summer. Funds would be utilised for supply of drinking water to city twice a day and even through tankers to some areas, he added.

The Mayor explained that city had a share of 1.3 tmcft of water from Somasila reservoir and it would be utilised during emergency. The corporation has been supplying water to the city through bore-wells, hand pumps and summer storage tank on daily basis, he said. About 18,000 million litres of water would be supplied through summer storage tank to the city, he added.

Aziz informed that there is about 4.69 million litres of water in summer storage tank. He explained that they would also utilise water sources from Penna River to supply drinking water. Corporation officials Ravi Krishna Raju, Sharif, Lakshmana Murthy and Telugu Desam leaders were also present.
