The marriage of the divine couple was performed at ‘Hasta Nakshatra Lagnam’ at 8 pm on Chaitra Chathurdasi
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu could not attend the event following his sudden tour to Delhi. In his absence, Endowment Minister P Manikyala Rao presented Mutyala Talambralu and Pattu Vastrams on behalf of the state government to the divine couple following the tradition.

Governor ESL Narasimhan presented special pooja items to the deities. Human Resources Development minister and Kadapa in-charge minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, TTD chairman C Krishnam Murthy, E O D Sambasiva Rao and District Collector K V Satyanarayana participated in the event. The celestial wedding was performed amid chanting of Vedic hymns, Nadaswaram and beating of drums. It was witnessed by thousands of devotees who thronged the temple and waited patiently at the specially erected Shamianas.

The entire wedding procedure was performed following ‘Pancha Agama Sastram’ system. The Kalyanotsavam of Sri Kodandarama Swamy concluded at 10 pm. Earlier, the Utsav idols of Lord Rama and his consort Sita were brought to the Kalyanamandapam in a ceremonial function.

The idols were adorned with gold ornaments presented by the TTD. Undeterred by heat and humid conditions, scores of devotees witnessed the elaborate divine wedding ceremony soaked in divine bliss as the entire Kalyanamandapam echoed with Vedic chants during the fete that lasted for more than two hours.

Meanwhile the TTD which has made arrangements for the Kalyanotsavam supplied 6 lakh water pockets and 2 lakh butter milk pockets to the devotees About 100 counters were set up for distribution of Talambralu and Prasadams to the devotees
