The Minister assured that she would give her very best in boosting tourism. She also said that she would take a decision on who would be contesting from her family in the by-election to Nandyal. This would be finalised after having a thorough discussion with her family members and with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, she added. The Minister refuted rumours about there being an intense fight within the family for Nandyal seat.

Prior to the meeting with the department officials at state guest house, Akhila participated in the 191th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Jyothirao Phule organised at Birla Circle. After garlanding the statue of Phule, she addressed the gathering and recalled Phule’s contribution to women’s education. She said with the intention of educating women Phule had sent his wife Savithri to school. “Phule strived for uplift of backward classes,

” she said and appealed to the parents of girl children to encourage them to pursue higher education. She further said the state government is giving a big boost to for the development of women on all fronts. Later, the Minister, District Collector Ch Vijay Mohan and MLA SV Mohan Reddy have disbursed cheques worth Rs 32.28 crore from DRDA and Rs 10 crore from MEPMA to BC self-help groups.
