The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Anantapur (JNTU-A) celebrated Mahatma Jyothirao Phule’s 191st birth anniversary on a grand scale at the varsity campus on Tuesday. JNTU-A in-charge Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Prof Rajagopal, Registrar S Krishnaiah and other staff paid rich tributes to Jyothirao Phule.

Anantapur: The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Anantapur (JNTU-A) celebrated Mahatma Jyothirao Phule’s 191st birth anniversary on a grand scale at the varsity campus on Tuesday. JNTU-A in-charge Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Prof Rajagopal, Registrar S Krishnaiah and other staff paid rich tributes to Jyothirao Phule.

Speaking on the occasion, Rajagopal said Phule was a great social reformer, who fought for the downtrodden. “Phule laid emphasis on women’s education and started schools for them. He founded Satyashodhak Samaj,” he added. He called upon everyone to follow the footsteps of this great personality and imbibe his qualities.

University directors Prof V Shankar Rao, Prof A Ananda Rao, Prof S V Satyanarayana, Prof G Prasanthi, PRO M Anka Rao, Principal Prof K Prahalada Rao, Vice-Principal Prof Deva Kumar and other staff members took part.
