The 125th Urs of Mastan Shavalia will start from April 14 to 18 in Guntur city. The celebrations begin with a colourful procession called Chandal by fakirs who walk through the main roads of the town. The procession starts at 11 p.m. on Friday, from a old house at Kannavarithota, in which Baba is said to have stayed.

Guntur: The 125th Urs of Mastan Shavalia will start from April 14 to 18 in Guntur city. The celebrations begin with a colourful procession called Chandal by fakirs who walk through the main roads of the town. The procession starts at 11 p.m. on Friday, from a old house at Kannavarithota, in which Baba is said to have stayed.

Accompanied by folk artistes, fakirs began the procession, after offering prayers, at the Holy Chair in the Kannavarithota. They reach the Dargah and offer prayers at the Holy Cot. On April,15th evening, they will distribute gandham, and offer meals to the poor,. On April 16th, they will read Koran and distribute prasadam. On April 17, they will offer. meals to the fakirs . On April 18, they will keep the chair in which Baba sat in its place.

Managing trustee of the Dargah, Ravi Rammohana Rao said that Urs celebrations is a symbol for communal harmony. People of various states visiting the Dargah during the Urs celebrations over the years and getting their wishes fulfilled.
“Urs festivities will start on the 16th day Rajab month. We are making arrangements to provide lunch to 40,000 daily”

Ravi Rammohan Rao said. He added that he has been conducting the Urs for the last 33 years. He said that on this occasion, he is conducting a medical camp on April 14 to render medical services to the poor. He urged the people take part in the programme and make it a grand success.
