He distributed cheques for Rs 15 lakh to the bereaved families at a meeting held in Sitarampuram in Narsapur rural mandal on Wednesday. Out of the Rs15 lakh, the government sanctioned Rs 5 lakh and Rs10 lakh was paid by the management, according to the officials.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the IAS officer will conduct magisterial inquiry into the incident and submit the report to the government within seven days from start of the inquiry. “After receiving the report, we will initiate the action against those responsible for the incident,” he asserted.

He warned that action against factories, which do not follow the pollution control norms. “Likewise, action will be initiated against the factories, which lets effluents into river waters,” he asserted. He said that preliminary reports confirmed that negligence of the management. “We will take necessary steps to ensure that such ghastly incidents are not repeated. We will take up cleansing of Yanamadurru drain.

No canal, drain or water sources should be polluted. If any factory violates the pollution control rules, they will be dealt with serious consequences, the minister warned.Narsapuram MLA Bandaru Madhava Naidu said that the government immediately responded on the issue of deaths and seized the factory. “We have announced Rs 25 lakh to each family as compensation and within 12 hours, the families got Rs 5 lakh each. Now tho

se families have received Rs.15 lakh and the remaining Rs 5 lakh will be handed over soon,” he added.Naidu said that eligible persons in the victims’ family will get the government job.
