Nidadavole (West Godavari): Three municipal employees were injured when pig breeders attacked them here on Wednesday while they were on the job of putting down pigs loitering in the town.According to police, the Nidadavole Municipality has decided to eradicate pig menace in the town and deployed municipal employees to carry out the job. Municipal chairman Bobba Krishna Murthy directed the officials not to spare anyone while putting down the pigs.

The municipal staff reached Santha Market where pig menace is high in the morning around 6.30 am. When the contract sanitary workers tried to catch the pigs in the market area, about 20 pig breeders rushed to the spot and obstructed them from catching the animals.

The staff on duty told them that they were eradicating the animals as per the official directions. But ignoring this, the pig rearers attacked the workers injuring Bangaru Sattibabu, Mutyala Sai and Bocha Durgaprasad. On learning of the incident, municipal chairman Bobba Krishna Murthy and town SI N Satish, municipal commissioner G Krishnamohan reached the spot.
The chairman warned that the pig breeders would be dealt with seriously if they resort to attacks on municipal staff on duty. Municipal commissioner G Krishnamurthy lodged a complaint with the police on the incident. SI G Satish registered a case against the pig breeders Kothada Chinna, G Suribabu and Gada Balaji.
