Peddapuram (East Godavari): Public undertakings like, APSRTC and APTransco would be strengthened to make them viable to extend more public services, said finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu.He inaugurated the bus station at Peddapuram in East Godavari district, constructed at a cost of Rs 1.30 crore on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that government would extend all possible assistance to these undertakings and suggested them to become self-reliant utilising the available assets for commercial purposes.
Ramakrishnundu said that Rs 4,500 crores losses were reported in RTC and the state had reimbursed Rs 120 crores for concessions extended and Rs 350 crore for new buses. The minister said APTransco has extended Rs 4,500 crore as subsidy to farmers and has a deficit of Rs.7450 crores. He said that out of Rs 1.56 lakh crores budget for the state during this year, an amount of Rs 50,000 crores was allocated for poverty alleviation programmes.
