Jagan asks officials to ensure drinking water

Kadapa: YSR Congress Party president and Pulivundula MLA Y S Jaganmohan Reddy urged the officials to ensure drinking water to the people, especially living in rural areas, in the district. Jaganmohan Reddy, who was in Lingala mandal of Pulivendula constituency on Thursday, conducted a review meeting with officials and public representatives over the drinking water crisis.

He said drastic fall in groundwater levels following the rise in mercury levels has plunged the district into severe drinking water problem. He said that farmers of the district had incurred huge crop losses in the current rabi season due to shortage of rainfall. He said that almost all mandals were facing serious drinking water problem as water bodies dried up and the women in the affected areas were often being forced to travel more than one kilometre to bring water, while in urban areas people were forced to purchase water.

The YSRCP MLA discussed the drinking water problem mandal-wise in Pulivendula constituency. Later, he appealed the Anantapur district collector Kona Sasidhar on phone to take steps for release of water from Chitrvathi balancing reservoir in the interest of people of Pulivundula constituency.
