  • Visits Police Training College in Ongole and inspects arrangements for constable training.
  • Assures timely promotions to officers based on seniority.

He said, “The police are here to respect and protect the people. It is not correct on the part of an officer to keep an accused in the station for 48 hours or 15 days depending on his mood. If an officer brings a woman or a girl in the name of inquiry to the police station after 6 pm, even if a case is registered or not, I will take serious action on the sub-inspector, inspector, and DSP concerned. There will be no question of sparing any of them.”

Sambasiva Rao said that the police department would train the newcomers as tech-savvy and able staff who can communicate in English. He said that the first batch of the constables recruited recently will be given a laptop and trained in English communication skills along with other department training.

He said, “We are going to give police training material preloaded laptop to each constable in the training. Apart from the police vocabulary, IPC and others, we shall train the constables to communicate effectively in English. Apart from the healthy classroom atmosphere, they will be trained as tech savvy police. We have also decided to reduce the strain of physical exercises but increase mental exercise. We are introducing yoga to them for their physical fitness in the health point of view and they can continue practicing it even after leaving the training centre.”

The police boss also said that promotions for all personnel would be given as per their seniority without any delay.
He said, “We have a sanctioned strength of 306 DSPs. Among them, 92 DSPs will be directly recruited and the remaining 214 will be promoted as DSPs. As the job in the police department is a tough job, the person who does not receive the promotion at the correct time will be de-motivated. So from now on, seniority lists for the constables, head constables, ASIs, SIs, inspectors and DSPs will be made ready on every January 1 and the promotions will be given accordingly.”
