Rajamahendravaram: Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar was instrumental in industrialising and enabling labour-friendly policies in India, besides hugely contributing to making of the Constitution, underlined S Damodaran, officiating asset manager, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Rajahmundry Asset, on the occasion of 126th birth anniversary celebrations of the leader, held at ONGC Base Complex here on Friday.
His ideas on the betterment of under-privileged have influenced numerous welfare policies of the governments and ONGC’s CSR and Component Plan are also formed by his ideas of making a better society, said Damodaran. Baba Saheb’s marginal family background and un-friendly society around him could not deter him from championing the cause of the socially marginalised sections of the society, informed Damodaran. He added that from this great soul’s resolute determination and struggles the youth of the day has a lot to take inspiration from to build their careers and serve society.
Earlier, Damodaran garlanded Dr Ambedkar’s Statue at Ambedkar Park, Base Complex, followed by senior officers and officer bearers of All India SCST Employees Welfare Association (AISCSTEWA), Petroleum Employees Union, Association of Scientific and Technical Officers, All India ONGC OBC and MOBC Employees Welfare Association.
Speaking on the occasion chief guest MLA of Rajahmahendravaram (Urban) Mr Akula Satyanarayana, lauded the efforts of AISCSTEWA for the uplifting and empowering the Dalit communities , It's a rich tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar, he added.
Commemorating the event, ONGC under the aegis of All AISCSTEWA organised a blood donation camp at Surya Gardens in association with Red Cross Society.
Around 200 people donated blood and blood donors were presented T-Shirts and Nutrient Drink. Rs 20.50 lakh worth of Sewing machines, School Furniture and other utility items were distributed Tribal Womens, Schools in W.G.Dt. under SC ST Component Plan Further, 35 persons trained in Car Driving by SB Motors were given Driving Licenses. E Vijaypaul, National Chairman, CWC, B Prasadarao, Chairman, AISCSTEWA, Rajahmundry, N Kanneraju, Secretary, AISCSTEWA, Rajahmundry, Officer Bearers of AISCSTEWA, PEU, ASTO, AIONGC OBC & MOBC Asstn and other senior officers and employees were also present.
