Vijayawada: A 13th century Agastheeswar temple complex located at Kommuru village in Prathipadu mandal of Guntur district is in a collapsed state, said renowned heritage activist and the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada and Amaravati CEO Dr. E Sivanagi Reddy.

The CEO visited the 13th century Agastheeswar temple under the campaign ‘Preserve Heritage for Prosperity’ initiated by the CCVA. In a statement here on Monday, he said that the temple structure was built in Kakatiya style architecture during the period of Ganapatideva of the 13th century and collapsed due to poor maintenance of the temple.

He said that there were four scriptures ranging between 12th and 16th centuries recording the glorious epoch of the temple complex. He also appealed to chemically clean the paints on the stone surfaces and mandapas of the complex.
