Eluru: V Umamaheswara Rao, Secretariat member of CPM Andhra Pradesh unit demanded that Government pay compensation to the displaced people of Polavaram irrigation Project under Land Acquisition (amendment) Act 2013.
Participating as chief guest at the CPM West Godavari Committee meeting held here on Tuesday he said it is unjust to change various points in Land Acquisition (amendment) Act 2013, which favours the displaced people.

He also demanded the stoppage of Aqua Mega Food Park in Tundurru which pollutes the water resources in delta area. Problems of the displaced and Aqua Food park victims have been discussed in the meeting. Chintakayala Baburao, Secretariat member presided over the meeting.CPM District Committee Secretary B Balaram demanded that officials take up steps to supply drinking water to the rural and urban area people during the summer.

He also demanded that government announce Rs 2,000 as Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the quintal paddy. CPM State Committee member Mantena Sitaram, Secretariat Members Juttiga Narasimha Murthy, K Raja Rama Mohan Roy, Gudipati Narasimha Rao, JNV Gopalan, A Ravi, DNVD Prasad addressed the meeting.
