Govt to introduce Eng medium schools
Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana said that the government is introducing English medium education in the municipal schools in the state from this academic year of 2017-18 due to increasing demand for English medium education.
Vijayawada: Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana said that the government is introducing English medium education in the municipal schools in the state from this academic year of 2017-18 due to increasing demand for English medium education. He felt that students, who studied in English medium schools, are getting more opportunities for higher education and getting jobs compared to the students who studied in Telugu medium schools.

P Narayana convened a meeting with the teachers of Krishna and Guntur districts at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram here on Tuesday and interacted with the latter. “I am not against Telugu medium education, but encouraging English medium because the students will get more opportunities in future’, he stated.
He said people, who are opposing the English medium schools in municipal schools in the state, have joined their children in the English medium schools.He has made it clear that the government is not forcibly implementing English medium education on the students and assured that Telugu medium schools will also be continued as usual in the state. He said the children have the choice to choose the schools whether English medium or Telugu medium.
He announced an English medium college for Vijayawada. He responded to the request made by Mayor Koneru Sridhar that the city needs an English medium college for the students. The Minister said that he would give instructions on sanctioning of a college to the city. Mayor said the VMC would allot the site for the construction of the college. Interestingly, many teachers and parents attended the meeting have suggested for the introduction of English medium education in the municipals schools in the state.
