IIIT security staff refuses to take salaries at Idupulapaya

The 280-strong security staff of the IIIT at Idupulapaya refused to accept salaries stating that they are supposed to be paid Rs 10,600 as per the government norms but are being paid only Rs 6,000. They submitted a memorandum to the IIIT Director Bhagavannarayana stating that they would not accept salaries of Rs 6,000 per month when they needed to be paid Rs 10,600.

They appealed to the Director to take the matter to the notice of the higher authorities as it would be very difficult to eke out a living with Rs 6,000 and do justice to them. Bhagavannarayana assured the agitating security staff that he would take up the matter with the higher authorities and do justice to them.
