42 cold storage units to be set up
As many as 42 cold storage plants would be established to the tune of Rs 2.50 Crore in 42 Mini Rythu Bazaars in West Godavari, to facilitate the vegetable farmers to preserve their produce till they get the support price said West Godavari district Collector K Bhaskar.

Reviewing the progress of various sectors at a meeting held in Collectorate here on Wednesday, he said the cold storage units would work with the solar system and can store up to five tonnes of vegetables. To set up these special cold storage units, the district administration will take the financial assistance of NABARD, he added.
He also said Rs 100 crores would be spent on the mechanisation of cultivation and directed the officials to create awareness among the farmers on the drip irrigation. He instructed the agriculture officials to register the farmer's names online, of those who have not taken up the drip irrigation in 45,000 acres. He firmly said that this target of 45,000 acres of drip irrigation should be achieved. He also directed the officials to supply required water for the 3rd crop.
