Tirupati: Yagam, cake cutting, coconut breaking and Annadanam marked the birthday celebrations of TDP national president and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu here on Thursday. However, the participation Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) officials in the Mrityunjaya Yagam by Telugu Nadu Student Federation (TNSF) seeking divine blessings for the long life and prosperity of Chandrababu raised the eye brows.

In the Yagam held in the university campus, participation of host of officials led by SVU Vice-Chancellor Avula Damodaram along with Registrar Devarajulu Naidu evoked criticism. YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) students’ wing district president Hariprasad Reddy has criticised the top officials of the university openly taking part in a private function of ruling party activists and said they are acting more as members of Yellow brigade than university officials. He also said that he will file a PIL in the High Court of Hyderabad to restrain the university officials from violating norms.

The TDP activists led by city president Dampuri Bhaskar Yadav broke coconuts at Alipiri, near Padalamandapam to propitiate Lord Venkateswara to shower his blessings on their party president for all success while Telugu Yuvatha district president Sridhar Varma along with his followers cut a cake at a function held near Town Club Junction to mark the birthday of the Chief Minister. Annadanam was also conducted by TDP on the occasion of Chandrababu’s birthday.
