Vijayawada: B Lakshmi Kantam, who assumed the charge on Friday at Machilipatnam as the new Collector of Krishna district, made surprise visits to the government offices, Anganwadi Centres and Mandal Parishad Schools of Gannavaram mandal in Krishna district on Saturday. The Collector inspected Anganawadi Centre and Upper Primary School at Kesarapalli village and tested mid-day meals cooked for the schoolchildren. In his maiden visit in Krishna district, Collector Lakshmi Kantam visited Gannavaram tahasil office and observed that the old building was in a bad stated and suggested to the officials concerned to take up renovation of the builiding.

He instructed the revenue officers to ensure quick delivery of services to the the people in the mandal. The hCollector directed tahsildar M Madhuri to submit performance report regularly and try to be top among all mandals in service. Later, he visited the Gannavaram Primary Health Centre (PHC) and enquired patients about medical services and available facilities in the hospital. He checked the attendance of hospital staff and enquired about their duties. He ordered the health officer to give memo to staffer Hari Naik for not signing in attendance register for the past four years.

Speaking on the occasion Collector Lakshmi Kantam said that government hospital medical services should be much better than corporate hospitals. He has warned the staff that he would take action if they neglect the duties.“I may visit any place at any time’ he told the staff. He further said he would take action if they fail to fulfill their duties and support if they work with responsibility.

Collector Lakshmi Kantam visited Kesarapalli UP School and enquired about the school. The school head master explained that about 300 students are studying in UP School and he urged that UP School should be upgraded to High School. Moreover he requested to collector to sanction play ground and provide other facilities to the school. Gannavaram Tahasildar M Madhuri and Revenue Inspector V Sunil accompanied.
