Visakhapatnam: Union Minister of Steel Chaudhary Birender Singh, who is arriving in the city on Friday night from New Delhi, will pay his maiden visit to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Saturday. According to sources, the Union Minister will be the chief guest at a conference to be organised by Navyandhra Journalists’ Welfare Association at the Platinum Jubilee Guest House, Andhra Union on Saturday after visiting Simhachalam temple.

Later, in the afternoon, the Minister will visit various departments in the steel plant, including Coke Ovens, Blast Furnace-3, Steel Melt Shop-2, Wire Rod Mill-2 and the Model Room houses at the ED (works) building. He will also dedicate the 120 MW power plant built at a cost of Rs 677 crore to the nation, a green initiative of the RINL utilising waste gases. He will also interact with the representatives of various trade unions and the Steel Executives’ Association.

On his third leg of his official visit on Sunday, Chaudhary Birender Singh will review the performance of the RINL and interact with the top management officials headed by CMD P Madhusudan after participating in the plantation programme at Arogya Vanam. He will also visit the Steel Museum at the Technical Training Centre and inaugurate a symposium on ‘Digital economy for new India’ at the multi-purpose hall, Ukkunagaram in the noon before leaving for New Delhi.
