Kurnool: Animals are the worst affected than humans this summer. Day to day increasing temperatures in the district is forcing the forest animals to enter into human habitations searching water. Even several villagers are seen travelling tens of kilometers to fetch a pail of water due to the ground water level touching to bottom deep. Very recently a bear has made an unexpected entry into human habitation at Kothapalli mandal to quench its thirst.
This is because, the water resources in the forest have totally dried and the wild animals are forced to enter into human habitats. Several donkeys, cows, dogs and other creatures are also seen like skeletons due to water and fodder scarcity. The animal owners unable to feed them are transporting to slaughter houses. The government and the district administration have failed to facilitate fodder and water to the animals.
The President of SPCA speaking to this correspondent said that he was greatly moved that several animals are seen queued up near hand pumps, hotels, houses and at drains. Several cows, donkeys, monkeys and other creatures are seen licking water that was thrown on the road. Even the birds are also noticed fighting with each other for water. To quench the thirst of the animals to some extent it is a small effort from the organisation, he said.
On this occasion, he appealed all the citizens of Kurnool to set up at least one water tub at their residences so that the animals could quench their thirst. We can ask whatever we want but the animals can’t do that, so, we have to understand their necessity and satisfy their need.
He also urged the district administration to spot a place for sheltering the animals besides arranging tents at Goshala for protection from scorching heat. He urged the administration to set up water distributing shelters as were set up to humans, he stated.
