Chittoor: District Collector PS Pradyumna who has taken over the charge from the then district collector Siddarth Jain has to face core challenges in the district it is opined. Though Pradhumna worked as Joint Collector in the district during 2010-11, and is well versed with the topography of the district, the present political and development scenario would be very typical for him to reach his set goals. In order to prove his loyalty to Chief Minister and to drive the district towards progressive lines, he has to strive in all aspects.

It is felt it would also be a challenging task for him to rise to the expectations of Industries Minister N. Amaranatha Reddy (Palamaner MLA) as many more industries are expected to be launched in the district within a short period. It is obvious to state that initiating hectic exercise keeping in view the past experiences with former District Collector Siddarth Jain in Chittoor district CM has deputed PS Pradyumna to his native turf. But it is sure that TDP stalwarts would make all sorts of efforts to use the new district collector for their advantage. Particularly to face the upcoming elections, the TDP would certainly seek cooperation of the district collector in all levels.

Apart from all the above tasks, PS Pradyumna is expected to allot special attention for mitigating the drinking water problem in the district . Due to the temperature touching 44 degrees Celsius , the ground water levels have come down drastically. At the outset heavy depleting of ground water levels in all the parts of the district has aggravated the water woes. Hence, the new collector has to take immediate steps to transport the drinking water through hired tankers for above 620 problematic villages in the district. Paucity of funds is said to be the problematic factor in undertaking any new water projects in the district.

Acute drinking water shortage is prevailing in all the municipal towns like Madanapalle, Palamaner, Punganur, Puttur, Srikalahasti, Nagari besides Chittoor city except Tirupati city. Drinking water is being sold as a consumer product in various parts of the district. The district collector has to turn his attention over the demands of the farmers particularly for resuming the defunct Chittoor Cooperative Sugars, Chittoor Dairy and Renigunta Sugar factory. It would be a challenging task for the new district head to get the cooperation from the ruling Telugu Desam elected representatives as many of the TDP bosses are disillusioned.

During the last two years, there was a cold war witnessed among the TDP big wigs of the district and the then district collector Siddarth Jain. Both the TDP and YSRCP leaders have targeted Jain but failed to succeed in shifting him from the district as CM never heard the feelings of TDP men in the district. The past experiences of Pradumna, as a joint collector of the district would ease the administration for the new district collector who is said to be very accessible to one and all. Joint Collector Girisha and Joint Collector 2 Venkatasubba Reddy are expected to ensure the needful feed back for the new district collector.
