SVIMS director TS Ravi Kumar felicitated
Director cum Vice Chancellor of SVIMS (Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences), Dr TS Ravi Kumar was honoured with the prestigious “Indian American Medical Association – Illinois” (IAMA IL), USA recognition award for his best outstanding contribution in the field of surgical oncology and his pioneering efforts in initiating quality and safety standards in Indian health institutions.
Tirupati: Director cum Vice Chancellor of SVIMS (Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences), Dr TS Ravi Kumar was honoured with the prestigious “Indian American Medical Association – Illinois” (IAMA IL), USA recognition award for his best outstanding contribution in the field of surgical oncology and his pioneering efforts in initiating quality and safety standards in Indian health institutions.
IAMA IL has organized an exclusive presentation on “Building Excellence in Public Sector Health Care in India” by Dr Ravi Kumar on 19th April in Illinois, a SVIMS press release said. He was welcomed by Dr Tapas Dasgupta, president of IAMA IL.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vemuri S Murthy past president of IAMA IL and visiting professor to SVIMS, highlighted the achievements of Dr Ravi Kumar who native in US for 36 years, returned to India and appointed as Director for JIPMER, Pondicherry for three years and is currently rendering his services at SVIMS University, Tirupati.
During his tenure, JIPMER has emereged into one of the top three medical institutions in India. It may be noted that he is also leading the project of establishing a new AIIMS at Mangalagiri.In his presentation, Dr Ravi Kumar spoke about his experience in running the medical institutes and elaborated his plans for future AIIMS in India. He encouraged the US Physicians of Indian origin to actively contribute to the health care programs in India sharing their expertise.
The program was well attended by the IAMA IL members and representatives of Chicago Medical Society, University of Illinois, American association of Physicians of Indian Origin and Association of Telugu Medical Graduates in the USA. Dr Srinivas Reddy, President-elect IAMA IL has proposed a vote of thanks.
