Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the CM camp office in Vijayawada city would be turned into Centre for Good Governance and start functioning from May 1.Stressing the need for improving HR policy, the Chief Minister said retired Chief Secretary S P Tucker would be made in-charge to improve skills among officials. He said officials should act as per the advice of Tucker and prepare action plan to reach their targets.Addressing Heads of Departments at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said highest growth rate should be achieved for increase in per capita income. Officials should concentrate on districts registering lowest per capital income.

He asked the officials to appoint task forces for seven sectors identified as growth engines. Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked him to head Digital India programme, the Chief Minister said that several programmes being implemented by the state government including AP Fibre Grid received pat in the recently held NITI Aayog meeting. He said that the state government has been implementing several programmes which were suggested by NITI Aayog.Expressing concern over misuse of free sand policy, the Chief Minister said officials should act sternly on illegal transport of sand. He found fault with transport department for plying of unauthorised sand lorries.He said staff of mining, revenue and home departments should work in coordination with DGP and Revenue secretaries to curb illegal transport of sand.

Citing the Yerpedu accident, the Chief Minister said District Collectors and SPs should conduct road safety meetings regularly and they should own responsibility for road mishaps.The Chief Minister said the state has been marching forward in all sectors using Information Technology. He said a mega call centre was inaugurated recently to get feedback from people on the implementation of various government welfare programmes.He said a task force would be appointed to double the revenue in agriculture sector in the coming five years.

He said the state stands in fifth position in agricultural sector in the country and praised the efforts put in by agriculture officials to take the state ahead of other states.The Chief Minister said the state should achieve 12 to 15 per cent growth rate for 15 years to reach targets of 2022, 2029 and 2050.He advised the officials to adopt the best practices of other states to keep the state ahead in all sectors. He said the government should achieve public satisfaction in all sectors.Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa and Panchayat Raj minister Nara Lokesh spoke. Earlier, Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar explained the issues that came up for discussion in NITI Aayog meeting.
