Tirupati: CPI national secretary K Narayana also joined the chorus seeking judicial probe by a sitting judge into the tragic death of 15 persons in the Yerpedu mishap. Unless enquiry is done truth will not come out in the whole episode. He also demanded that PD Act should be invoked on the offenders and stern action should be taken against them. Speaking to the media in Munagalapalem village on Monday, he said the state government is responsible for the growth of sand mafia. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu should take the moral responsibility. It was he who acted against RDO Vanajakshi when she tried to stop the sand mafia menace in the past, Narayana pointed out.
The sand mafia is running a parallel government. They were carrying out their activities with the help of SCs and STs. If anyone tried to stop the illegal mining activities, they were threatened by the SC, ST atrocity cases, he averred. He also found fault with Tirupati urban SP R Jayalakshmi for not allowing the villagers to enter into the police station in Yerpedu when she was present there just before the accident. Hence, she was responsible for the killing of 15 persons and a murder case should be filed against the SP under section-302 and she should be arrested immediately, Narayana demanded.
He asked the government to pay Rs 25 lakh as ex gratia to the families of victims and Rs 10 lakh for those injured.Narayana also asked the government to provide job opportunities to one member from each family of the deceased. Later he visited Musalipedu and Ravilla Kandriga to console the families of the victims. CPI district secretary A Rama Naidu, district committee members R Venkaiah, R Harikrishna, Tirupati city secretary Chinnam Penchalaiah, Radhakrishna and others also participated.
Free education and employment will be provided, says Mohan Babu: Meanwhile, film actor Mohan Babu also visited the village on Monday to console members of the bereaved families. He made it clear that his visit was meant for consoling the families who are in grief and not to criticise anyone.
Their pain was unbearable and crores of rupees cannot give a solace to them. Still, he said, he will come to their rescue in best possible manner.
