The High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday issued notices to Telugu Desam MP Kesineni Nani, MLA Bonda Uma Maheshwara Rao, MLC Budda Venkanna Vijayawada, Mayor Koneru Sridhar, AP Police Housing Board Chairman Nagul Meera as also several other Andhra Pradesh government officers regarding assault on Andhra Pradesh Transport Commissioner Balasubramanian and other office staff.
The High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday issued notices to Telugu Desam MP Kesineni Nani, MLA Bonda Uma Maheshwara Rao, MLC Budda Venkanna Vijayawada, Mayor Koneru Sridhar, AP Police Housing Board Chairman Nagul Meera as also several other Andhra Pradesh government officers regarding assault on Andhra Pradesh Transport Commissioner Balasubramanian and other office staff.
The division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter questioned the Andhra Pradesh Special Government Pleader Ramesh as to what action the government had taken against persons who misbehaved with the Transport Commissioner. He submitted that a detailed affidavit would be filed and accordingly the bench directed him to file by June 13.
The bench took up this issue as a Public Interest Litigation after a letter written by Justice B Shivashankar Rao recently to Acting Chief Justice requesting him to take up this issue highlighted in the news reports published on March 27 as a suo moto PIL.
When the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, the Special Government Pleader took notices on behalf of official respondents – Principal Secretary, GAD, Principal Secretary, Transport Department, Principal Secretary, Home Department, DGP and Vijayawada Police Commissioner.
