He suggested to tahsildars to set up a Call Centre at every mandal headquarters and keep themselves available round-the- clock to address the problems. He asked them to respond to their SMSes and phone calls and solve the problems within 24 hours.

“Repairs should be taken up to all the borewells in the rural areas and they should be put into use immediately. If necessary mobile service vans should be sent to inaccessible areas,’’ the Collector said and added that Rs 1.7 crore has been sanctioned in this regard under various schemes.

He said 332 villages under Paderu division have been facing water problem and it should be addressed under the action plan. Similarly, Padmanabham, Devarapalle, Ravikamatam, Anandapuram and other mandals are also having problem which needed immediate attention, he told the officials.

Water tankers should be rushed to villages where there is an acute water shortage, the Collector said.He suggested to the panchayat secretaries and RWS workers to form into teams and visit the villages to identify the problems.Superintending engineer of RWS K Meher Prasad, Zilla Parishad chief executive officer Jayaprakash Narayan and other officials were present at the meeting.
