Comprehensive plan for afforestation
A massive plantation for afforestation would be taken up in the district in the coming monsoon to increase the forest coverage, said East Godavari district collector Kartikeya Misra. Reviewing the forestry activities in the district at the collectorate here on Thursday, he said that a comprehensive plan by social forestry and territorial divisions was essential.

While reviewing the ecotourism activities in the district, the collector suggested the forest officials to study the feasibility of establishing Nagara Vanams on par with Vanam established at Diwan Cheruvu.
The collector also enquired about wild life activities and the moment of tigers and panthers and wild animals in the Papikondalu Wildlife Sanctuary area.He also reviewed the function of bidi leaf scheme for the tribals in Chintoor division and coffee plantation in Rampachodavaram area.Revival and renovation of dilapidated lighthouse at Korangi was also suggested by the collector. The collector also reviewed the division wise functioning forest development activities.
