Visakhapatnam: Local Eisai Pharmaceuticals India Private Limited entered the Guinness Book of World Records by donating 108 million DEC tablets, manufactured at Eisai’s Vizag Plant in 24 hours.On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the London Declaration on January 30 this year, some pharmaceutical partners have tried to set a new world record to showcase the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) drug donation programme.
This drug donation programme was monitored by the Guinness Book of World Records using the record for ‘Most medications donated in 24 hours’. At an official celebration of April Summit held in Geneva on April 18, the Guinness Book of World Records has awarded all the pharma partners of the London Declaration on NTDs for ‘Most medications done in 24 hours’.
Of the total 207 million drugs that were donated on January 30 this year, 52 per cent of the drugs (108 million DEC tablets) were donated by Eisai Pharmaceuticals India Private Limited alone bagging the world record. at the end of March, one billion tablets have been supplied to 27 endemic countries and Eisai will continue to promote comprehensive support activities so that more countries can achieve total elimination of pylaria like diseases by 2020.
