Visakhapatnam: Leaders of AIDWA and Shramika Mahila Coordination Committee (CITU) demanded that the government introduce welfare measures especially for women working in organised and unorganised sectors as labourers.Submitting a representation at the Collectorate here on Friday, AIDWA city secretary R N Madhavi and convener of Working Women Coordination Committee M Kameswari alleged that majority of women were becoming labourers following skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, disparities in the payment of wages and erratic policies of liquor and privatisation.

Majority of private and corporate bodies are not implementing minimum wages despite the judgment of the Apex Court. The leaders demanded that the government implement equal pay for equal work and see that necessary facilities are provided for women working in hospitals, SEZ companies, Apparel Parks and in municipalities by implementing the labour Acts.
