Priority to ordinary devotees for the first time
Visakhapatnam: Elaborate arrangements have been made fo smooth conduct of annual Chandanotsav of Lord Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy at Simhachalam where the devotees will have the Lord’s Nijaroopa Darshan from the wee hours of Saturday.
After the temple priests performing Suprabhatha Seva Aradhana and special pujas under the supervision of temple main priest Godavarti Gopala Krishnamacharyulu to the Lord up to 1.30 am (late on Friday night), the auspicious programme of removal of sandalwood paste amid chanting of Vedic hymns will begin.
Later, temple hereditary trustee and Union Civil Aviation Minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju and family members will have the ‘first Nijaroopa Darshan’ at around 3 am. The devotees would be allowed later from 4 am and the management has imposed restrictions even for VIP darshan too. Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states E S L Narasimhan, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Ministers Ch Ayyanna Patrudu, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, K Atchannaidu, MLAs and MLCs will also visit the temple on Saturday.
To beat the heat, the temple management has provided shelters this year and many voluntary organisations were making arrangements for offering butter milk and drinking water to the devotees.Temple executive officer K Ramachandra Mohan said that necessary steps have been taken for the smooth conduct of the annual festival and appealed to the devotees to cooperate with the temple staff and police on-duty.
Meanwhile, Municipal Commissioner M Harinarayanan, who visited the temple on Friday, directed the officials of public health to take steps for maintaining good sanitation in and around the temple by deploying more sanitary staff at all the public toilets.
