DSA summer coaching camps begin

Vijayawada: Minister for Youth Services and Sports Kollu Ravindra inaugurated baseball and basketball summer coaching camps at Nirmala High School here on Saturday. As per directive of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP), Krishna District Sports Authority (DSA) was organising about 50 summer coaching camps in the city and Krishna district. As part of summer coaching camps, Ravindra inaugurated these two camps. The Minister distributed sports kits to urban summer coaching camp organisers and cheques to rural camp organisers.
Minister Ravindra played basketball with Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Ram Mohan and Mayor Koneru Sridhar and started the camps.Speaking on the occasion, Ravindra said that for the first time SAAP was conducting 50 camps in the city and Krishna district. As per new sports policy, the state government was constructing Kreeda Vikasa Kendralu (KVK) in all districts, he informed.
For promoting sports and games, the state government would start six sports academies and additional KVKs while 50 KVKs sanctioned so far and 39 were completed, he added.Koneru Sridhar said that VMC was also conducting sports coaching camps with the support of SAAP and DSA. Boys and girls should participate in summer coaching campshe suggested. Krishna District Olympic Association (KDOA) president Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram, Krishna District Baseball Association (KDBA) chairman K Narendra, president Tulasi Ram, secretary MV Satya Prasad and others participated.
