India ranks 7th in global export Business, says Jt DGFT Virendra Singh

Tirupati: Joint Director General of Foreign Trade (Jt DGFT) Virendra Singh said that the India is ranked seventh in export business globally. The Jt DGFT participated as a chief guest in one-day seminar on ‘Export Business: Procedures and Documentation’ organised by the Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI) in association with ECGC Limited at Hotel Pai Viceroy on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Virendra Singh said that there are more opportunities for unemployed youth as foreign trade has expanded in service sector too.The Jt DGFT urged the youth to come forward to start export business in service sectors like Information Technology.

He said that new foreign trade office has opened at Vijayawada for issuing licenses. The office caters to Nellore, Prakasam, Krishna, Guntur and Rayalaseema districts. He added anyone can apply for license through online or by submitting required documents in the office. “We are issuing foreign trade licence in a day,” the official said. The Jt DGFT stated that the Andhra Pradesh is emerging as export hub for marine and food processing products. He also explained features of Niryat Bandhu Scheme, which is facilitating exporters to get subsidies.

With growing importance to exports, FAPCCI member Pradeep said that their trade body is conducting awareness programmes on export business procedures and documentation in cities like Nellore and Tirupati. He explained about various financial schemes being offered by central government and financial institutions related to foreign trade.

Tirupati Chamber of Commerce (TCC) president Manjunath said that the pilgrim city is best suited for foreign trade as it is located close to international airport at Renigunta and Krishnapatnam Port in Nellore. He urged to unemployed youth to make their careers in export business. Chandrasekhar Reddy and Sudhakar Rao, resource persons from the RBI, have explained about foreign export management procedures. Young entrepreneurs and traders from the city were present.
