Guntur: YSRCP president and Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Y S Jaganmohan Reddy will take part in two-day Rythu Deeksha in Guntur city on May 1 and 2 in protest against the state government’s failure to waive crop loans and fall in prices of chillies and turmeric.
Due to excess production, the price of chillies fell from Rs 12,000 per quintal last year to Rs 6,500 per quintal now.
The government has recently announced a compensation of Rs 1500 per quintal for chillies. However, farmers who sold their produce earlier will not get the compensation. They have incurred losses.
