Jawan’s funeral performed
The funeral of Naik Botta Venkata Ramana was held at Marripalem on Saturday with military honours with ceremonial guard from Navy and police.Ramana, while serving in 16 Madras regiment was among three Army personnel, who were killed in Panzagam area of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir in a terrorist attack.
Visakhapatnam: The funeral of Naik Botta Venkata Ramana was held at Marripalem on Saturday with military honours with ceremonial guard from Navy and police.Ramana, while serving in 16 Madras regiment was among three Army personnel, who were killed in Panzagam area of Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir in a terrorist attack. He was here with his family for over a month last year in November and planned to visit again next month.
Earlier, floral tributes were paid to his mortal remains at the Naval Air Station INS Dega late Friday night. His body was flown into the city from Jammu by a special Indian Air Force Aircraft. Military Honour and Wreath Laying Ceremony was conducted at INS Dega by Colonel B Parkhe Admin Commandant, Station HQs (Army), Visakhapatnam, and Captain SA Joglekar, Commanding Officer INS Dega, as a mark of respect to the deceased. Visakhapatnam West MLA PVGR Naidu , representatives of the district administration, police and Capt P Satya Prasad (Retd) Zilla Sainik Welfare Officer also paid tributes to the deceased.
