Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Port Trust is committed to serve the society in the activities of health, education and skill development programmes for youth as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, said Port Chairman M T Krishna Babu.

Krishna Babu, who attended a series of programmes organised at the Government Victoria Hospital here on Saturday, inaugurated various medical equipment worth Rs 10,07,000 given as a part of its CSR initiative. Since his assumption of charge as chairman, he was mostly concentrating in providing basic amenities in the areas of education and health from their CSR funds.

The medical equipment that was granted to the hospital include two ICU multi-para monitors, one suction apparatus, one baby warmer with LED phototherapy, one borewell, 25 cots and mattresses, five digital B P apparatus, two ICU beds, one steriliser and a diathermy. The chairman disclosed that on earlier occasion in the year 2013, the port has given Rs 19 lakh to the hospital for procuring life saving medical equipment.

Hospital staff lauded the gesture of the chairman and his team for providing important medical equipment which would help extend better medicare to the needy coming from far off areas. Port deputy chairman P L Haranadh, secretary In-charge T Venu Gopal, senior officers and hospital staff were present on the occasion.
