CM intervenes in row over Proddutur civic body chief

Kadapa : The controversy over selecting the candidate for Proddutur municipal chairman post get solved after chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu got involved in the matter last Wednesday . According to sources Chandrababu Naidu called the Proddutur TDP in charge N. Varadarajula Reddy and Civil Supplies Department chairman J. Linga Reddy to his camp office at Vijayawada on 25thApril and had discussions with both groups over the issue.
In a meeting headed by the chief minister it was decided as per the party’s earlier decision Asam Raghurama Reddy a follower of TDP Proddutur in charge Varadarajula Reddy was declared candidate for Proddutur Municipal chairman. And at the same time the meeting directed Civil Supplies Department chairman Linga Reddy’s follower Sd Muftiar who was in the race for the Proddutur municipal chairman post should be dropped from the contest as he will be given a government nominated post very soon.
Sources disclosed that Chandrababu Naidu warned of general elections which may be held in 2018, and asked the both leaders to work together in the interest of party development in Proddutur constituency. The CM has directed the marketing minister C. Adinarayana Reddy to look into the matter for bringing all Councilors to one camp for smooth running of Municipal chairman election. It is learnt that the CM is also keen on to know the political scenario, and the position of YSR Congress in Proddutur constituency.
It may be recalled that the election of Proddutur municipal chairman has been postponed two times following multiple representation in TDP for chairman post as former minister and Proddutur party in charge N. Varadarajula Reddy , and civil supplies department chairman J. Linga Reddy have both inducted their candidate in the contest leading to tense situation. Following both groups turning violent during the election two times, the district administration has indefinitely postponed the election following the directions of state election commission.
The election has drawn attention of entire people of state including chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu with the Proddutur MLA Rachamallu Srikanth Reddy (YSR Congress ) hitting himself with a slipper by the way of expressing inability over the failure of the government in conducting the election in proper manner. Chandrababu Naidu who expressed displeasure over the incident after finding fault with his own party leaders responsible for the prevailing uneasy situation called them to his camp office and settled the issue in an amicable manner.
