He said the government paid Rs.271 crore premium to get insurance coverage to workers working in the unorganised sector He addressed a meeting held in the Sri Venkateswara Vignan Mandir in Guntur city on the occasion of May Day on Monday.

Speaking on this occasion, he said that the AP government is forefront in proving maximum number of days work under the MNREGS and added that the government has taken up works under the MNREGS at a cost of Rs.6000 crore. He said that the state government is giving scholarships to the children of workers. He urged the industrialists take steps for the welfare of workers.

Minister for Social Welfare Nakka Ananda Babu said that the government has provided insurance coverage to the 2.05 crore workers under the Chandranna Bheema Scheme and more than 40% of workers working in the unorganized sector covered in the scheme He urged the eligible to avail the benefits of the scheme . District collector Kona Sasidhar said that 19.35 lakh workers covered under Chandranna Bheema scheme in the district. He said steps taken by the government for the welfare of workers.
