Guntupalli Port fishermen stage stir in River Krishna
Guntupalli Port fishermen alleged that the real estate mafia was planning to construct resorts and hotels in 150 acres in the Krishna River Island near the port area.Guntupalli port fishermen and CPM leaders staged a dharna in Krishna river on Sunday with more than 100 boats where the real estate developers have set up fencing in River Krishna for constructing resorts and hotels.
Vijayawada: Guntupalli Port fishermen alleged that the real estate mafia was planning to construct resorts and hotels in 150 acres in the Krishna River Island near the port area.Guntupalli port fishermen and CPM leaders staged a dharna in Krishna river on Sunday with more than 100 boats where the real estate developers have set up fencing in River Krishna for constructing resorts and hotels.

One of the fishermen, P Murthy, said that a builder Ch Nageswara Rao was trying to encroach more than 150 acres in the Krishna River to construct hotels with the support of the Union and State governments,He said the real estate mafia warned the fishermen if they raised any questions on erection of fencing around 150 acres in Krishna river.
Another fisherman Y Subramanyam said that real mafia agents were not allowing them to enter the 150 acres for fishing at Guntupalli area and demanded stern action against the real mafia who were encroaching Krishna river for constructing resorts and hotels.He said that more than 500 fishermen families were depending on fishing in Krishna river to eke out their livelihood for the last 40 years. They would face financial difficulties if the real mafia constructed hotels and resorts in Krishna river.
