City Police Commissioner D Gautam Sawang on Monday handed over two cheques each valued at Rs 4, 08,400 to the kin of the two deceased home guards, who died on duty in the commissionerate limits. Thotlavalluru Home Guard J L S Prasad died due to cardiac arrest while he was on duty and his wife Chamundeshwari received a cheque from Commissioner of Police.

Vijayawada: City Police Commissioner D Gautam Sawang on Monday handed over two cheques each valued at Rs 4, 08,400 to the kin of the two deceased home guards, who died on duty in the commissionerate limits. Thotlavalluru Home Guard J L S Prasad died due to cardiac arrest while he was on duty and his wife Chamundeshwari received a cheque from Commissioner of Police. One Traffic Home Guard B Badru died due to road accident while he was on duty and his wife B Kalavathi was handed over the cheque.

All home guards in the city offered their one day salary amount to retired home guards and deceased home guard family members in the city because state government is not paying any compensation to the home guards while they meet with any accidents on duty. They have also not allocated retirement benefits to home guards in the state.Deputy Police Commissioners G V G Ashok Kumar, Home Guards Commandant P Prakasa Rao, DCP Ch Ramakrishna, Home Guards RI Ramakrishna and Home Guards Association President V Sesha Charyulu and others were present.
