May Day was celebrated by different trade unions and various programmes were conducted here on Monday.Centre for Indian Trade Union (CITU) took out a bike rally from different places in the city starting from AP Paper Mills via ONGC, Nandam Ganriraju Center, Narayanapuram, A V Apparao Road, Devi Chowk, Main Road, Iduballa Market, Kumari Talkies Center, Horlicks factory and Jampet road.

Rajamahendravaram: May Day was celebrated by different trade unions and various programmes were conducted here on Monday.Centre for Indian Trade Union (CITU) took out a bike rally from different places in the city starting from AP Paper Mills via ONGC, Nandam Ganriraju Center, Narayanapuram, A V Apparao Road, Devi Chowk, Main Road, Iduballa Market, Kumari Talkies Center, Horlicks factory and Jampet road.

The rally culminated in a public meeting at Syamala Centre where leaders of CPM and CITU T Arun, N Ranga, Polina Venkateswara Rao and Tulasi spoke on the importance of May Day and Arun alleged that BJP government was appeasing corporates and downsising workforce in all public sector companies.

CPI conducted May Day in its office and other main centres. Ravula Venkaiah, party’s secretariat member, who spoke on the occasion, lashed out at the state and the Central governments saying that they were trying to suppress the voice of workers in industries. JATLU labour union president Vangamudi Kondala Rao presided over the meeting in which state CPI secretariat member Meesala Satyanarayana, district secretary Tatipaka Madhu, AITUC district secretary Kirla Krishna and former MLA Chitturi Prabhakara Chowdary participated.

Gidugu Rudraraju, former MLC and state Congress leader participated in May Day programmes organised by INTUC district president N V Srinivasa Rao. He also distributed clothes to workers on the occasion. Ramineedu Murali, Dasi Venkat Rao and others participated.TNTUC president Nakka Chittibabu organised May Day celebrations in which he felicitated workers and distributed clothes. YSR Congress also organised the May Day celebrations under the leadership of Akula Veerraju.
