Srikakulam: Kodi Rammurthy Stadium (KR Stadium) situated at Srikakulam district head quarters got Rs 23 crore funds for repairs and renovations after 33 years of its inauguration. KR Stadium works started in 1979 and completed in 1983 and the then Chief Minister, NT Rama Rao inaugurated it.

For all these years a lot of sports and games meets were held. Almost after 33 years of its inauguration Rs 23 crore funds has been allotted for repairs and renovations to meet current requirements. In May 2016, Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu laid the foundation stone for repair works. Subsequent to it on this year on March 14 Sports authority of AP (SAAP) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Projects Construction Company (NPCC) to complete repairs and renovations.

As part of it consultancy, the team estimated Rs 23 crore for all works and sent it to government. ‘The government sanctioned Rs 15 crore for complete compound wall, indoor stadium and gymnasium and another Rs eight crore for synthetic track said District Sports Development Officer (DSDO), B. Srinivas Kumar.
