Amaravati: While expressing dissatisfaction over less number of outpatients to the electronic Urban Primary Health Centres (eUPHC) across the state, the health minister Kamineni Srinivas directed the healthcare providers to take initiative for giving wide publicity on the health and medical services being provided to the urban poor.

The health minister held a review meeting with healthcare providers at Secretariat in Velagapudi on Monday. He said that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had launched 222 eUPHCs in 15 municipal corporations and 39 municipalities across the state on November 8, 2016 for which Apollo Hospitals extended its commitment. The Apollo Hospitals extend its commitment to rural and remote healthcare as the service provider for the Government of AP, thereby providing primary healthcare and telemedicine facilities for urban poor population.

While emphasising that eUPHCs have been launched to cater the healthcare needs of urban poor, he said the health centres should have one air conditioned waiting hall, expert doctors, teleconsultation, staff nurse, lab technicians, ANMs and assistants. He also said that it should provide 28 lab tests along with diagnostic tests free of cost to the patients.
