1.5 lakh people to be covered under MGNREGS : Collector
Krishna District Collector B Lakshmi Kantham on Tuesday said that the district administration would aim to create work for 1.5 lakh people under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the coming days. Collector Lakshmi Kantham said at present 1.35 lakh people had been working under this scheme and it is a new record in the country.
Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector B Lakshmi Kantham on Tuesday said that the district administration would aim to create work for 1.5 lakh people under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the coming days. Collector Lakshmi Kantham said at present 1.35 lakh people had been working under this scheme and it is a new record in the country.
The Collector released a press statement regarding MGNREGS works here. Construction of farm ponds, check dams, vermi compost plants, drinking and irrigation tanks renovation and other works have been taken up under Neeru–Pragathi programme, he said. These works have been taken at all 933 village panchayats as a movement, he added.
He further stated that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was giving top priority to Krishna district and praised him for implementing several programmes successfully. He further said that making the district drought-free was the main motive and creating more employment under MGNREGS was the target.
