Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao on Tuesday celebrated his 70th birthday in a unique manner by pioneering a campaign for organ donations at his native Narasaraopet in Guntur district. He led the campaign by being the first in the list of donors.

Rao, a medical practitioner, signed papers as a token of offering his organs, followed by 11,987 persons in a span of an hour. Thus, he let his hometown break the Guinness Book of World Records. Tamil Nadu entered the Guinness by mobilising 6,697 sometime back for expressing their consent to donate their organs after the death within the same period.

The remarkable feat was certified by Guinness records representative Swapni, who came from Maharashtra exclusively on this specific assignment. Swapni presented a certificate of Guinness Book of World Records to the Dr.Kodela Sivaprasada Rao in the programme.
