As many as 1,025 cycles were distributed to girl students studying in Class 9, across 23 schools under Municipal Corporation here on Tuesday by mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai, MLA Dr Akula Satyannarayana and MLC Adireddy Appa Rao.

Rajamahendravaram: As many as 1,025 cycles were distributed to girl students studying in Class 9, across 23 schools under Municipal Corporation here on Tuesday by mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai, MLA Dr Akula Satyannarayana and MLC Adireddy Appa Rao.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Pantam Rajani Sesha Sai said the state government had introduced many schemes to make sure that girls would not discontinue education and that the government had introduced distribution of cycles for girl students who come from longer distances to schools in this regard. She mentioned that the students should make use of facilities in government schools which are on par with corporate schools.

She made it clear that the teachers with high expertise were working in government schools and suggested the parents to make use of them for their children.MLC Adireddy Appa Rao mentioned that the government was providing uniforms and books at free of cost including mid-day meal. He added that, a scheme was introduced where books would be given to students who pass class 9, free of cost.

MLA Dr Akula Satyannarayana who presided over the meeting observed that the state government had taken up the distribution of cycles to prevent dropouts of girl students who are unable to reach schools from longer distances. He mentioned that students would reach schools in time and their physical fitness would improve due to cycles.
